Why choose skin Needling?
Skin Needling is a hugely popular rejuvenation treatment, for good reason-we know that when the skins surface receives a trauma (think a cut or skin tear) the deepest layers, i.e the dermis and epidermis, are stimulated. Skin Needling can therefore mimic the body's ability to naturally repair itself - by delivering a controlled, very precise trauma to the skins layers. When the deepest layers of the skin are injured, fibroblasts are reactivated, initiating the production of new collagen rich cells.
Why is collagen so important?
Collagen is a major structural component of the skin forming a huge 70-80% of its dry weight and plays a vital role in achieving optimal skin health. Think of collagen as the building blocks; as we age, collagen naturally depletes which can result in more wrinkles, saggy skin and dull, tired looking completions. Skin Needling, or Collagen Induction Therapy, is an effective way to combat this problem. Many anti-aging benefits can be achieved such as plumper, fresher looking skin and smoother complexions. This also improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles whilst circulation and blood flow is boosted, improving the skins overall health and preventing many other skin complaints such as acne, pimples, blocked pores.
What makes Dermapen different from other skin needling devices?
It can be mind boggling when presented with so many different versions of skin needling- most skin clinics will offer this treatment claiming to be the ‘best’ on the market. Not all devices have the same delivery however, operating with much less depth and accuracy achieving minimal results.
The Dermapen is the most advanced technology for two reasons: a combination of it its precise delivery culminating in its unique speed and depth;
Optimal speed oscillation- the Dermapen cartridge has one of the highest and finest needle counts on the market. 11 super fine needles penetrate perpendicular to the skin which prevents unnecessary dragging or tearing . The speed of delivery is specifically designed for optimal accuracy and minimal discomfort with adjustable depth settings between 0.5-2.5 mm. This allows the practitioner more precision and control when treating different areas of the face and neck.
Skin Needling facts and myths!
Due to the trend of the ‘vampire facial’ made famous by celebrities, there is the false assumption that skin needling will leave you dripping in blood and hiding undercover for a week-not true! ‘Vampire facials’ actually involve the expensive, invasive process of taking a blood sample and needling the Platelet rich Plasma (PRP) back into the skin. Whilst this is thought to boost results, it is the skin Needling itself that actually has the proven results to induce new collagen and improve skin health. Whilst a little pinpoint bleeding with the Dermapen is possible, errythema (ie pinkness to the surface) should be expected. In fact, this is the desired outcome- it means a good inflammatory response has been stimulated, kick-starting the healing process.
The real beauty of Dermapen is that it is a natural response which is suitable for all skin types. No artificial chemicals or toxins are used and the downtime is minimal. You may look like you have a mild sunburn immediately after which typically subsides within 4-24 hours post treatment. Products specifically tailored following skin Needling are used to soothe and hydrate and once the skins channels are open, allowing for deeper absorption of product.
