Dermatique aims to ease cosmetic confusion with new website

While the popularity of cosmetic procedures continue to soar, making your way through the maze of treatment options on the internet remains confusing for virtually all but the experts, according to West Leederville cosmetic physician Dr Wesley Fielding.

Dr Fielding, who’s also a GP, has launched a new website for his clinic Dermatique that’s focused on streamlining the online search for cosmetic solutions.

“There is a lot of information on the internet if you know what medical or cosmetic treatment you’re interested in before you start searching, but trying to find out what your options are to tackle a particular skin or body issue can be a lot harder,” he says.

“We constantly hear from people we help that they’ve lived with sun damaged skin or broken capillaries on their face for a long time because they haven’t known what they can do about it.”

The new Dermatique site sets out in simple table form what treatment options exist for particular medical or aesthetic concerns.

“Reducing consumer confusion is the priority of the new site and for those who want a little more guidance from the privacy of their own home, there’s also an option to email the clinic to be pointed in the right direction,” says Dr Fielding.

“Across all age groups, people are becoming more internet savvy, but what we’ve recognised is that it’s the experts that are letting the team down – they need to make it easier for those seeking quality, current information to find it and that’s done by making better decisions about how they present that information.”

In the year to March 2009, Australians spent an estimated $345 million spent on non-invasive and minimally invasive treatments, up 15% on the previous year. The figure was released in May 2009 by the Cosmetic Physicians Society of Australasia (CPSA).
